A visit to the magnificent attraction of St. Hilarion Castle with its breathtaking views, just a short drive up the hill from the Onar Village, is a must see. Situated atop a rocky crag with ruined turrets, towers and windows, it is one of the most complete castles in Kyrenia..  Rumour has it, that this very castle was the inspiration for both the fairy-tale castles of King Ludwig in Bavaria and Walt Disney’s Snow White. If you happen to visit during the springtime, the surrounding landscape is awash with wild, exotic flowers.

Take the shuttle bus into Kyrenia and in just ten minutes, you will be able to experience the restaurants, bars and shops of this famous historic port. Boat rides are also available from the port. Towards the east end of the harbour is The Icon Museum, located in the former Greek Orthodox Arkhangelos Church. It provides the perfect setting in which to appreciate both art and history. Opposite the Museum are the remains of Byzantine catacombs, which even boast a rooftop restaurant!  Hotel guests can benefit from a special discount at Cafe Chimera and several other local restaurants also offer free taxi pick-ups. The nearest public beach is the small sandy Diana Beach, where guests’ are asked to pay a small seasonal fee in order to gain entrance. Sun loungers and jet skis can also be rented and there’s a little restaurant at hand, providing snacks and drinks. A ten minute drive away, is the private beach of the Vuni Palace Hotel. This provides an upmarket day out for those who don’t mind paying a high entrance fee to enjoy its first class facilities.
