Recently refurbished and set within the pretty hillside village of Catalkoy, The Olive Tree Hotel oozes opulence and charm, from the chandelier clad foyer and impressive marble walls, to the modern art and colourful mix of painted furniture. Commonly regarded as one of the most beautiful in Kyrenia, the tranquil and welcoming neighbouring village of Ozankoy, famous for its olive, carob, and lemon trees, is home to the most important flora and fauna species in Northern Cyprus. Due to its location at the foot of the mountains, Ozankoy is the perfect place from which to start out on a walking trip and take in some of the finest views of the famous Bellapais Abbey. The Abbey is particularly spectacular at night when it is beautifully lit. The traditional mosque and medieval church are also worth exploring.
The village is also worth visiting for its excellent restaurants, bars, supermarkets, casino and a sandy beach. The Fez Restaurant and Bar comes highly recommended restaurant and bar offering fantastic evening entertainment. The hotel also operates a 5pm shuttle bus during certain months of the year, which proves an ideal form of transport for an alfresco rooftop meal under the stars, an evening out in Kyrenia or a boat cruise as the sun goes down.
For something a little different, Çatalköy has its own riding school, providing the opportunity to explore the Kyrenian mountain range on horseback. Led by an experienced team, visitors will be shown how to ride and walk with a horse. Just speak with the friendly receptionist at the hotel for details of opening times and directions to the riding school.
